This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Mason Golf Tournament, a beloved tradition named in honor of the late Dr. Miles H. Mason Jr., a physician whose impact on the Duluth community spanned over four decades.
Affectionately known as “Daddy Mason,” Dr. Mason practiced medicine in Duluth for 43 years, offering compassionate care in a deeply personal way. Known for his healing touch, warm smiles, and heartfelt wisdom, he often accepted garden vegetables or homemade baked goods from patients who couldn’t afford to pay—never turning anyone away.
In the spirit of his legacy, the Mason Golf Tournament has raised a remarkable $1.3 million over the years to strengthen health care in Gwinnett. What began as a tribute to a beloved doctor has grown into a powerful force for good, honoring his belief that community, compassion, and care should always come first.
